Volcano turns paradise in the Canary Islands into a burning hell (video)-RT World News

Cumbre Vieja spewed a fresh lava flow, swallowing everything along the way, and the end of the volcano has entered its third month.

Footage taken on Thursday showed the lava flow slowly engulfing a tree. In recent weeks, the volcano has caused dozens of shaking every day.

According to data from the European Union satellite monitoring system Copernicus, since the eruption began on September 19, lava has covered approximately 1,073 hectares of La Palma and burned more than 2,650 buildings along its path. More than 7,000 residents have been evacuated.

In addition to the obvious danger that lava poses to any creatures in its vicinity, when lava encounters seawater, it also releases toxic gases. On Monday, the authorities ordered residents of three coastal towns to stay indoors because of thick steam billowing from the sea. However, when the volcanic smoke dissipated to a safer level, the blockade was lifted on Wednesday. However, it is still recommended that people living in this area wear FFP2 masks.

The ash and smoke emitted into the air by Cumbre Vieja made flights in and out of La Palma unsafe, and the local airport was closed from Saturday to Thursday morning.

As the lava flowing into the sea cooled and solidified, the eruption also increased the area of La Palma by 46 hectares.
