US diplomats in Europe report on ‘Havana Syndrome’ – Media – Action News Now

Diplomats in Paris and Geneva reportedly afflicted by mysterious disease

According to media reports, many U.S. diplomats serving in Paris and Geneva have developed symptoms consistent with the mysterious disease known as Havana syndrome.

Citing unnamed sources, The Wall Street Journal said Thursday that U.S. diplomats in the two cities had been knocked out over suspected cases of the unusual disease.

Washington was aware of the cases when they were first reported in the summer, according to the Wall Street Journal.

At least three U.S. officials serving in Geneva have reportedly contracted the disease, at least one of whom was transported from Switzerland to the U.S. for treatment. The delegation apparently briefed staff on the cases later at a town hall meeting.

Diplomats are encouraged to report any unusual symptoms in Paris after senior embassy officials highlighted suspected cases.

Responding to the report on Thursday, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken told MSNBC that U.S. intelligence agencies have yet to identify the cause of the symptoms.

The affected officials are among as many as 200 people who have fallen ill for unknown reasons in China, South America and elsewhere in Europe. Some reports suggest that half of the victims were CIA employees.

Blinken insisted in his November speech that a Biden administration is “Focus on” Find the root of the disease that plagues so many U.S. officials. His government called it “Unusual health events. ”

The disease was first reported by diplomats serving at the U.S. Embassy in Havana more than five years ago, with symptoms including headaches, dizziness, ringing in the ears and vertigo, as well as problems with vision, hearing and balance.

Patients report symptoms years after their first illness, while a study disclose Some patients experience traumatic brain injury.

The American media believes that this may be caused by a top-secret weapon launching energy waves and pointing the finger at China or Russia.

However, the U.S. government has yet to get to the bottom of the disease, nor what mechanisms might be used to cause it.

In September, Cuban scientists dismissed claims of secret sonic weapons, saying they exist “There is no scientific evidence of an attack.” They claim these symptoms are related to the collective psychosis of American spies.
