The Clown of Hope in Lebanon | Close | Beirut Explosion

Corruption has prevailed in Lebanon for decades, bringing turmoil and suffering to millions of citizens. The country’s service industry is close to collapse, but the government has not been held accountable. In the past few years, Lebanon has experienced the Beirut explosion on August 4, 2020; shortages of medicines, gas, water and electricity; and its economy has been hollowed out.

As a result, hundreds of people have left the country, causing a brain drain. However, Sabine Choucair, the clown, decided to stay because she believed that Lebanese people now need to laugh more than ever. One community at a time, she and her team traveled across the country, bringing laughter and joy wherever needed most.
