French Prime Minister Jean Castex has tested positive for Covid-19 after returning from a trip to Belgium. As a precaution, five Belgian ministers including Prime Minister Alexander De Croo also self-quarantined.
Castes, who has been fully vaccinated, announced on Monday that he has tested positive for the virus. His office said in a statement that he will be quarantined for 10 days but will continue to work.
The French prime minister found his daughter tested positive for the coronavirus when he returned from Brussels, where he met with De Crowe and other ministers. A government spokesperson said that in response to his announcement, five Belgian ministers have entered a state of preventive isolation and will be tested on Wednesday.
The 56-year-old Castex is not yet eligible for the booster vaccine.
