Pope Francis expresses condolences to the victims of the Milwaukee Christmas Parade accident that killed five people
Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Petroparolin sent a message of condolences to Ms. Jerome Listki, Archbishop of Milwaukee, on behalf of Francis.
Francis asked those affected by the “tragic events” to know that he was close to them spiritually, and called on “God to give everyone spiritual strength to overcome violence and good to defeat evil.”
Police said the 39-year-old Darrell Brooks Jr. drove the SUV on a parade route in Waukesha on Sunday, killing 5 people and injuring 48 others. Waukesha police chief Dan Thompson said Brooks was leaving the scene of a family dispute that occurred a few minutes ago.
One of the pending legal cases against Brooks was that he deliberately hit a woman with a car after a fight in early November.
