Passengers break into cockpit, try to jump out of plane (video) — Action News Now

An American Airlines crew member helped subdue an unruly passenger who broke into the cockpit and tried to climb out of the plane’s window before takeoff. The flight was delayed for several hours.

The accident occurred on board a Boeing 737-800 with 121 passengers and six crew on board as it was preparing to take off from Ramon Ville da Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula, Honduras , and headed to Miami, Florida, on Tuesday.

A passenger swooped off the jet bridge and into the cockpit, trying to climb out through an open window. A video posted on social media appeared to show a man looking out of a window in the cockpit.

The intruder was apprehended after the crew intervened. “We applaud the professionalism of our excellent crew in handling difficult situations,” The airline said in a statement, adding that the unruly passenger caused some damage to the plane.

The man’s motives are unclear. The flight to Miami was delayed for several hours.
