Capt. Kirk’s William Shatner explodes in space – Kimberley Daily Bulletin.

Actor William Shutter counted his wild character on Wednesday: rocket ride in space, courtesy of “Star Trek” fan Jeff Bezos.

Shatner, 90, best known for his role as Captain Kirk, joined three other passengers for a planned launch from West Texas.

Bezos space travel company Blue Origin invited Shatner to a short front on the edge of the last frontier, making him the oldest man in space.

This will be Blues Origin’s second passenger flight, using the same capsule and rocket that Bezos used for its launch three months ago. The journey should take only 10 minutes, the fully automatic capsule reaches a maximum altitude of about 66 miles (106 kilometers) before parachuting in the desert.

Virgin Galactic’s Richard Branson embarked on a space tour of the United States on July 11 aboard his own rocket ship. Bezos boarded his capsule nine days later. Elon Musk was left behind as his SpaceX company launched its first private flight last month, sending a billionaire, cancer survivors and two ticket winners into orbit.

And last week, the Russians sent an actor and film director to the International Space Station to film.

“We’re just getting started, but what a miracle this start is. What an extraordinary time to be a part of this start,” Scheiner said in a Blue Origin video posted on the occasion of his flight. There is a lot of curiosity about the fictional character Captain Kirk. So let’s go with it and enjoy the ride.

Circulating staff: Blue Origin’s vice president and two businessmen who failed to bid for a seat on a previous flight with Amazon founder Bezos. Blue Origin did not disclose their ticket prices.

Bezos was at a large launch and landing site near Van Horn, Texas, to see all four.
