This week, we had the pleasure of speaking with photojournalist and founder of the Bronx Documentary Center, Michael Kamber, as he shares with us 10 images that have shaped his career as an educator and journalist . A catastrophic apartment fire in the Bronx killed 17 people on Sunday; we looked at photos of how residents and first responders responded after the fire.
National Geographic reporters sought to track down “sloth kingpins” — animals often illegally trafficked as pets — while Reuters looked at the survival chances of mountain lions as humans expanded into Washington state. NPR has collected dramatic scenes from protests in Kazakhstan, and Magnum photographer Alec Soth has put together a new exhibit, reported by the Guardian, that showcases his years of road trips. These images, unsurprisingly, are gorgeous. For those of us stuck at home, the New York Times’ list of 52 places has been released – oh how I’m dying to visit them!
